FLETCHER Joseph L It is the following. Trooper 788682 Leslie Joseph Fletcher 2nd Royal Gloucestershire Hussars Royal Armoured Corps died 3/10/1942 aged 31. Native of Gloucestershire Son of George and Elizabeth (Lizzie) nee Caudle of Avening Gloucestershire Fletcher Buried at Hadra War Memorial Cemetery Alexandria.

GRAHAM-JAMES Patrick Arthur Gore Mentioned in Despatches. Major 6859, 4th Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry died 30th May 1940 (Wills and Admin, Ancestry) He lived at Sandford House, Avening, Gloucestershire. His effects went to his mother, Isabel Margaret Graham, widow, attorney of Barbara Elizabeth Gore Graham, spinster. (Newspaper Index Cards, Ancestry) GRAHAM, Previously reported miss, now known to have been killed in action on the 30th May 1940 near Hondschute, Belgium. Commemorated on his parents memorial in the Holy Cross Churchyard, Avening, Gloucestershire. Commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial

PEARSE Robert William Pte 223710, 54 Infantry Brigade Group Transport Coy, Royal Army Service Corps. Born 1908 at Gloucestershire to Walter Henry and Nellie Rose Pearse, nee Watts, baptised on the 31 January 1909 at St George, Nailsworth, home address, Market Street, Nailsworth, Gloucestershire. Died 16th December 1942 aged 34. He was the husband of Norah Evelyn Mary Pearse, nee Bingham of Spondon, Derbyshire. She was married in 1941 at the Holy Cross, Avening, Gloucestershire. At rest in Kanchanaburi War Cemetery , Thailand. (Memorial has Pearce, true surname is Pearse)

PORTER Percy Norman. Gunner 1714689 7/4th Martime Regiment Royal Artillery died 21/10/1941 aged 33. Son of Arthur Samuel and Florence Maud Porter; husband of Iris May Porter, of Avening, Gloucestershire. Commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial, Devon.

STEVENSON Robert Allan Norris. Captain 114092, Gloucestershire Regiment attached to 1st Parachute Regiment, died 8th March 1943 aged 22. Born 1920 at Upton on Severn Worcestershire Captain Allan Frederick Martin Stevenson, M.C. , and Barbara Joan Stevenson, of Woodhouse Farm, Avening, Gloucestershire.
