Extended Description
Corporal 24273816 Austin Cecil GRILLS, 3rd County Down Battalion. He was shot dead by the PIRA while returning home from work in his car at Talbot Street, Newry, County Down on the 12th January 1978 aged 55. He was off duty. At rest in Mullaghglass Cemetery, Armagh Road, Newry, County Down. He has a tree dedicated to him with his name plaque is at the National Memorial Arboretum Alrewas Staffordshire.

Following extract was from a section called The Troubles, Jan 1878 inside a magazine called The Belfast Magazine 74.
Corporal Cecil GRILLS aged 56. Shot dead at Newry. He was ambushed as he drove home after leaving his work, builders merchants at Merchant Quay. He was shot in the head as he drove along Arthur Street. He was taken to hospital (Daisy Hill) where he died.
