An accordionist leads a sing-along for SS officers at their retreat at Solahutte outside Auschwitz - pictured in the front row are Karl Hoecker, Otto Moll, Rudolf Hoess, Richard Baer, Josef Karmer, Franz Hoessler, and Josef Mengele.
Very impressive image, all or most of the criminals runing the place grouped in one photo.
Have not seen any of the "camp staff at leisure" images before.
Very chilling to look at. Especially Dr.(med) Joseph Mengele.
Mengele was a fellow pathologist. I don't believe that Mengele had any motivation, nor personal belief that his human experimentation would provide medical benefit, useful information nor new insight into pathogenesis (disease developement) or progression of disease. Even his controlled experiments with twins, despite being COMPLETELY CRIMINAL, might have answered some basic questions re: individual variation with respect to infection & immunity, were they designed to do so. He was simply torturing captive patients to satisfy his morbid interests. I'm sorry he only suffered an accidental death by drowning. I could have been motivated to experiment upon him if given the opportunity.
