Son of Mrs S Thorne, 31 Mount Pleasant, Tutnalls, Lydney, Gloucestershire.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, France.

Lydney St Mary Churchyard, Gloucestershire.

Son of John Saunders and Sarah Thorne, 14 Albert Street, Lydney, Gloucestershire.
Some notes from his army records -
Joined up aged 25 and 10 months on 25 September 1914 at Valcartier Quebec, Canada, occupation tin plate worker.
At some stage he was posted to France. On 1 September 1917 he was in 7th Casualty Clearing Station dangerously wounded with multiple gunshot wounds to his back and injury to spine. It appears that he was hit by a spray of bullets from a machine gun. On 6 September was transferred to 10th Stationary Hospital, Omer where he died the following day.
At rest at Longuenesse St Omer Souvenir Cemetery, France.
