ARTHUR FURSE

Extended Description
Arthur FURSE. Stoker 1st Class 285032 Royal Navy and (R.F.R. Dev B4846) on HMS Canopus. Born 2nd October 1877 at Mevagissey, Cornwall to John Gill and Charity, nee Rosvear of (1881) River Street, Mevagissey. Enlisted 1st April 1897, occupation prior to enlistment, labourer. Died at Royal Naval Hospital, Bighi, Malta of pulmonary tubercle 28th March 1915 aged 36. Son of Charity Furse of Tregonissey, Lane End, St Austell, Cornwall. His mother was informed of his death 29th March 1915. On the 1st April 1909 he left the navy and joined the Royal Fleet Reserve as B2641 on the 2nd April 1909. He was discharged on the 9th August 1910 to join the Canadian Navy. He rejoined the Royal Fleet Reserve at Devonport as B4846 12th February 1913. Joined HMS Canopus 12th August 1915 until his death 28th March 1915.
