Arthur ANKERS

Extended Description
Arthur ANKERS. 2nd Corporal WR/261878, 28th Light Railway Tractor Repair. (L.R. T.R.) , Royal Engineers died 19th October 1920. Son of Alfred Ernest and Annie of (1911) 87 Samuel Street, Crewe, Cheshire, occupation, apprentice black smith. At rest in Crew Cemetery, CheshireSome notes from what remains of his army records. He enlisted on the 30th November 1915 and posted to the army reserve. He was mobilized on the 27th April 1916 and posted to Chatham. He was married at St Barnaba's Church, Crewe on the 30th December 1916 to Miss Joy Sinclair. On the 18th January 1917 he was posted to France and demobilized on the 19th November 1919. He died at his home of heart failure.
