MORISON John. Private, 1102, 8th, Australian Infantry. Died of his wounds, 12th June 1915 received at the Dardanelles . At rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.. Some notes from his army record. He joined at on the 17th October 1914 aged 21. he was the son of James Alexander of Maroona, Victoria. He was shot in the groin at the Dardanelles on the 8th May 1915 and transferred at some stage to Malta on Hospital Ship, Braemar Castle
MURRAY Hugh. Armourer Sergeant, 636, 16th Australian Infantry. Died of his wounds, 21st August 1915, aged 41 years. The son of David and Agnes Murray. ,Scotland. He gave his life for King, Country & Australia. A noble end. He enlisted at Helena Valley, Western Australia aged 40. Occupation, mechanical engineer. His sister Mrs F H Snook of Palace Hotel, the Southern Cross, Western Australia was his next of kin. He had previously served 2 years with the Freemantle Artillery. Foundation member of the Coolgardie Rifle Club. He died in Military Hospital, Floriana, Malta on the 21st August 1915 from complications arising from the amputation of his right arm. At rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.
NORVELL William Maxwell. Corporal 828, 4th Australian Infantry died 14th August 1915 aged 32. Son of Edward Charlton, Frances Harding Norvell, of Oak Tree Inn, Winlaton Mill, Blaydon-on-Tyne, England. Born at Swalwell-on-Tyne, formerly of 7 Stars Hotel, Swalwell. He enlisted at Randwick, New South Wales on the 31st August 1914 aged 31 and 5 months, occupation, mechanic. He was wounded by shrapnel to his back and abdomen while on active service at Gallipoli on the 6th August 1915. Treated firstly at No1 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, same day 6th transferred to 3rd Field Ambulance and then invalided to Malta on Hospital Ship, Dunluce Castle on the 12th August 1915. Admitted into Military Hospital, Cottonera dangerously ill with intestinal haemorrhage where he died on the 14th August 1915. He left a widow on two children. Kenneth Murray, John Murray both of Front Street, Swalwell. The trustee to this boys was a Mary Hudspith. The mother was still alive. At rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.
NURCOMBE, George Edgar. Private 56, 4th Australian Infantry died 29th July 1915 aged 19. An Anzac. Son of Edward Arthur and Emma Nurcombe. .He was born at Petersham New South Wales, enlisted at Randwick, New South Wales on the 17th August 1914 aged 19 and 3 months, occupation, gas fitter. His next of kin was his brother, Arthur, of Bank Street, New South Wales. His parents were called Edward a and Emma. He embarked on the 15th May 1915 for Gallipoli. On the 3rd June 1915 he was admitted into 3rd Field Ambulance at Gallipoli suffering from boils. He was discharged to duty on the 15th June 1915. 3rd July 1915 he was again admitted to hospital with boils this time at 24th Casualty Clearing Station then to 52 Lowland Casualty Clearing Station on the 7th July 1915. He was later invalided to Malta on Hospital Ship, Gloucester Castle and admitted into Military Hospital, St Andrews Malta where he died. His only surviving relative was his brother, formerly Private 5853 Robert Stanleyof the same regiment, of 18 Lucas Street, Cronvilla 2230, New South Wales who received his medals and personal effects. . He was younger than George and only served in France, he survived the war.

O'HALLORAN Eugene John. Driver 2537, 2nd Battery, Australian Field Artillery, 1st Brigade died 10th October 1915 aged 24. Son of Eugene John and Elizabeth Jane O'Halloran. Native of Crowlands, Victoria, Australia. He enlisted on the 1st September 1914 aged 23, occupation, farm labourer. Next of kin was his brother. D M of Stockinbingal, New South Wales. He embarked from Sydney on H.M.A.T. A8 Argyllshire on the 18th October 1914 to Gallipoli. He was taken ill whilst at Gallipoli Peninsula and was treated at No 1 Australian Casualty Clearing Station at Gallipoli. 19th August he was invalided to Malta admitted to hospital in Malta from Hospital Ship, Ascania on the 25th August 1915 suffering from dysentery. He died in a hospital in Malta of dysentery and cerebellum tumor. He was laid to rest by Father Ferris , Addolorata Cemetery, Malta.
ODELL Samuel. Trooper, 809, B Squadron, 6th Australian Light Horse. Died of his wounds, 19th August 1915. He was born at Bingara New South Wales end enlisted at Liverpool New South Wales on the 5th November 1914 aged 22 and I month, occupation, carpenter. His next of kin was his father John E of Katoomba Post Office, New South Wales. At some stage he was posted to Gallipoli where while in action he was shot and seriously wounded in the skull and shoulder on the 21st July 1915. He was treated at No 1 Australian Casualty Clearing Station and then No 21 Luna Park Hospital, Helicoplis, Cairo. From there he was invalided to Malta on Hospital Ship, Sicilia Castle and admitted into Military Hospital, St Andrews on the 28th July 1915, and died at this hospital on the 19th August 1915. A letter was sent to his mother by Trooper W Millar 720 of the same unit after his death. He told her that Samuel had been shot by a sniper in the head and shoulder whilst building trenches at Pine Ridge, near Chatham's Post, as he (Trooper Millar) was about to relieve him of his duty. He caught Samuel as he was falling, both then walked down to the surgery at Regimental Head Quarters. Samuel made light of his injuries. He was then sent to 21 Luna Park Hospital, Heliopolis, Cairo for further treatment. At rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.
OGILVIE Thomas Alexander. 2nd Lieutenant.12th Battalion, 3rd Brigade Australian Infantry. Died from wounds on 18th August 1915 aged 28 He joined the army at Morphettville, South Australia on the 4th September 1915 aged 27 and 8 months, occupation, solicitor. He had previously served 5 years with the Old Senior Cadets and Rifle Club, New South Wales and posted to Australian Infantry as Private 721. He was the son of John and Elizabeth and husband of Sadie, of Kyalah Toorak, South Yarra Victoria. He was promoted to Corporal from the 4th September 1914 to 15th October 1914, Lance Sergeant 16th October 1914. Reduced to ranks 25th February 1915. 1st April 1915 promoted to Lance Corporal, 1st July 1915, Corporal, 10th July 1915 commissioned in the field to 2nd Lieutenant at Gallipoli. He was shot and wounded in his right eye on the 6th August 1915 . He was treated at No1 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, Gallipoli. Invalided to Malta on Hospital Ship, Dunluce Castle and admitted into Auberge de Baviere Hospital (known as Baviere Hospital) on the 12th August 1915. He died at the hospital from his wounds on the 18th August and was laid to rest the same day by Chaplain L Alford at Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.
OLIVER Malcolm Bruce. Private, 1554, 12th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Died of sickness, 6th September 1916. At rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta. Some notes from his army records.
He joined up aged 18 on the 30th November 1914 and was by occupation a labourer. After he had completed his training he left Australia for Gallipoli in December 1915. On the 7th August 1915 he was wounded in the left arm by shrapnel from a bomb. He was treated at the 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station and was later transferred to 3rd Field Ambulance Dressing Station at Mudros. In the meantime he was reported missing at Gallipoli on the 9th August 1915 while serving with the 12th Battalion, the was later noted as an incorrect report. He was sent to a hospital in Malta on Hospital Ship,
Dunluce Castle on the 12th August 1915 and admitted on the same day into Military Hospital Valletta where he died on pneumonia on the 6th September 1915 and was laid to rest the same day at Pieta by Chaplin E E Smith.
PAILLARD Eugene. Private 2002, 1st Australian Infantry died 14th August 1915 aged 20. Son of Jules Victor and Mararget Jane Paillard. Born at Nowra, New South Wales. At rest in Addolorata Cemetery, Malta.
PAISH Albert Walter. Private 1082, B. Section, 4th Field Ambulance, Australian Army Medical Corps. Died of his wounds, 12th July 1915, aged 35 years. The son of Harry and Mary Ann Paish, and husband of Susan Elizabeth Paish, of Aldgate, South Australian. Born at Hove, Sussex, England, enlisted at Mortphettville, South Australia on the 12th September 1914 aged 33 and 10 months, occupation, labourer. His next of kin was his Susan, of Cemetery Road, Port Pirie, Western Australia. His children, Albert George, Alice Georgina Cecilia, Cyril Laurence were all of Clark Street, Walkerville. He was posted to Gallipoli on the 12th April 1914 to Gallipoli. He was shot and wounded in his left knee at Gallipoli Peninsula and at date not known was invalided to Malta on Hospital Ship, Sudan. He was admitted onto Military Hospital St Andrews on the 20th June 1915 and died in this hospital on the 12th July 1915. At rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.
PARKER Herbert Thomas. Private, 1944, 22nd, Australian Infantry. Died of dysentery, 24th November 1915, aged 27 years. The son of John Goldsack Parker and Fanny Steward Parker, of Monbulk Post Office, Victoria, Australia . At rest In Pieta Military Cemetery. Some notes from his army records.
He joined up on the 19th January 1915 aged 27, and was a labourer by occupation. Born at South Yarra, Victoria. He was at the Depot from the 25th January 1915, drafted to the 22nd Battalion on the 23rd June 1915, and embarked at Melbourne on H.M.A.T. Anchesis on the 26th August 1915, taken on strength at Gallipoli on the 25th October 1915. He was taken ill with dysentery and treated at No6 Field Ambulance, Anzac on the 15th November 1915, transferred same day to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Hospital, Gallipoli beachhead. On the 16th November 1915 he was invalided on Hospital Ship Galeka, for a hospital in Malta where he died on the 24th and laid to rest on the 25th November 1915.
PARTRIDGE Henry James. Private, 1993, 14th Australian Infantry. Died of his wounds, 25th August 1915, aged 30 years. The son of James and Sarah Ann Partridge. The husband of Kathleen Partridge, of 10 Salisbury Terrace, Taunton. At rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta. Some notes from his army record held by the National Archives of Australia. He joined up on the 19th January 1915 at Victoria, Australia aged 29 years and 5 months. He was born in Bristol, Gloucestershire on the 17th March 1895 and was by occupation was and engine driver. His wife Kathleen was his next of kin and she lived at the time of his enlistment at 2, Maxwell Street,Rowbarton, Taunton, Somerset. They had a son called Arthur Henry of the same address. . He was part of a draft that embarked from Melbourne on the 17th April 1915 on ship, (His Majesty's Australian Transports)HMAT. No A20, "Hororata" bound for the mediterranean . On the 26th July 1915 he was injured by shrapnel in his left thigh from a shell that exploded near to him at the Dardanelles. He was treated in the field, locations not recorded and he was later transferred to Malta on Royal Navy Hospital Ship Somali on the 31st July 1915. he was admitted into Military Hospital, Tigne, Malta where on the 25th August he died. He was laid to rest in Pieta Military Cemetery the same day, officiated by Chaplin H J Wheeler.
PATTON Thomas. C.S.M., 323, 7th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Died of his wounds, 9th August 1915, aged 28 years. The son of Michael and Christina Patton. Born at Noorat, Victoria. He is at rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta
PAYNE Robert. Private, 2420, 23rd, Australian Infantry. Died of his wounds, 18th August 1915, aged 21 years. The son of George and Hellen Payne, of 77 Howe Street, Derby, Born in Glasgow. Not good-bye, but good-night. Good night we shall meet in the morning light. At rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.
PIKE Arthur William. Private 1334, 16th Australian Infantry. Died 31st July 1915 aged31 Malta. Son of James and Sarah Ann Pike. Born in London, England. At rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta Some notes from his army records.
He joined up on the 27th November 1914 aged 30years and 6 months, occupation, labourer. His birth was registered at Poplar, Kent. His next of kin was his brother, Alfred , who lived at 24 Dale Road, Canning Town, London. On the 6th May 1915 he joined the 16th Battalion at the Gallipoli Peninsular. Wounded at Gallipoli on the 17th May 1915, transferred to Malta in Hospital Ship, Albania and was admitted into Military Hospital Floriana with bomb shrapnel wounds to his back. He died of meningitis, shrapnel to back, septic spinal. His records show that he died in hospital on the 2nd August 1915.
