Sydney George BARNFIELD. Private 33004, 2/4th Gloucestershire Regiment who died of wounds 21st April 1917 aged 24. Son of Thomas and Ada of 60. Ryecroft Street, Gloucester City. Commemorated on the memorial of Alfred George and Sarah Ann Barnfield at Ampney Crucis Cemetery. At rest in Brandhoek New Military Cemetery No 3, Belgium.
His brother Albert Wilfrid Private 31806, 7th Gloucestershire Regiment also died on the 2nd April 1919 aged 25. He is buried at Batoum British Cemetery and is also commemorated on the Haidar Pasha Memorial, Turkey
Wilfred BARTON. Lance Corporal 1887 Royal Gloucestershire Hussars. Son of Jane Barton, of "The Knowle," Ampney Crucis, Cirencester, and the late Edward Barton. Died 21 August 1915 aged 32. At rest in Green Hill Cemetery, Turkey (including Gallipoli).
Ernest William COOPER. Gunner 61238, 40th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Son of Charles and Jane Cooper, of Ampney Crucis, Gloucestershire. Died 4 August 1918 aged 23. At rest in Crouy British Cemetery, Crouy Sur Somme, Somme, France.
John DORAN John, Sergeant PY/13550, 2nd Royal Marine Light Infantry, Royal Navy Division, Born 9th September 1887 at Whitehaven, Cumberland enlisted 10th October 1905 and died 21st July 1916 aged 28. Son of William and Barbara of near Pound Tree, Ampney Crucis and a few houses from Frank Large who also fell. Husband of Clarice Doran of 13, Cheyne Place, Chelsea, London. Comemorated on a wooden memorial in the of Holy Rood, Ampney Crucis. At rest in Bully-Grenay Communal Cemetery, British Extension, France
John Charles EDWARDS. Corporal 26534, 10th Gloucestershire Regiment. Born 1892 to James H and Ellen Edwards of the Post Office, Ampney Crucis. Killed in action 16 March 1917 aged 25. His mother was granted a war gratuity 8 June 1917 revised 21 October 1919. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

Born Son of James and Elizabeth Selina nee Sandle of 72 Whiteman Street, Swindon, Wiltshire Killed in action 1 July 1916 aged 21. His father was granted a war gratuity 11 November 1916 revised 23 September 1919. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

He was originally laid to rest in Edward Road Cemetery, No 2, Whose grave was destroyed in later battles. Now at rest in Cabaret Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez, France.

Born 1882 at South Cerney, Gloucestershire to Edwin and Mary Ann Whitman, nee Hanks. 1891 residing with his parents and sister at Marston Hill, Marston Maisey, Gloucestershire. 8 November 1902 he married Fanny Iles at Ampney St Peter, Gloucestershire, occupation labourer. 1911 his parents were residing at Elcot End, Ampney Crucis. 1911 he nor his wife were found. He died of wounds at No 1 Clearing Hospital, Bethume 4 January 1915. His widow was granted a war gratuity 12 August 1915 revised 29 August 1919. She was called Fanny Sampson

Philip Arthur MUNDAY. Chief Officer (1st Officer) 143058 Merchant Navy of S.S. Port Nicholson (London). Born in Oxford 1903 to William and Harriet Munday of Ampney Crucis. 1911 residing with his parents and brother at The Crown, Ampney Crucis, Gloucestershire. The 8 March 1930 he married Irene Kathleen Perrett at Holy Rood Church, Ampney Crucis. He was aged 27, master mariner. At the time of his death his wife was residing at Henleaze, Gloucestershire. Drowned at sea 16 June 1942 aged 39 as the result of two torpedoes hitting the ship fired by a German submarine U-87, commanded by Joachim, 100 miles from Portland Maine. Commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial, London.
