Colour Sergeant 2371 Alfred William YOUNG. 2nd Essex Regiment (Pompadours) died at Malta on the 4th July 1904 aged 36 years. Born at Ingrave, Brentwood, Essex, occupation, groom, enlisted 11th November 1886, stationed at St Elmo, Malta. Son of Jane.

Sergeant 3106 Enos William FENNER. 2nd Essex Regiment (Pompadours) died at Malta on the 12th July 1904 aged 30. Born at Dedham, Colchester, to John and Elizabeth nee Denny, occupation, labourer , enlisted 3th December 1890. In 1881 he was living with his parents at Monk Lane, Dedham, Essex He was awarded the Queen’s South Africa Medal 1899-1902, 4 Clasps, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902, for service during the Boer War on operations in the Orange Free State and the Transvaal.
