HINDLEY, Alfred. Died through war service 19th July 1925 aged 30. He was the son of John and Alice and brother of George who fell in France 1917. He is at rest in Leigh Cemetery, Lancashire.
Some notes from what remains of his army record. He enlisted on the 10th December 1915 into the Army reserve aged 20. He lived with his parents at 48 Organ Street, Leigh and was employed as a stripper, grinder. On the 7th May 1918 he was mobilised and posted as private 173433, 3rd Machine Gun Corps. He was discharged to pension on the 19th February 1919 aged 23. He was suffering from rheumatism aggravated by military service. His father was his next of kin. He did not serve overseas.
