Alfred Henry ANCHOR son of Charles William and Harriett M Anchor, Husband of Cinderella Lily nee Rose. In 1881 he was living with his parents at 30 Opler Street, Portsmouth.

Naval Record UK, Royal Navy Registers of Seamen's Services, 1848-1939 shows the following

Alfred Henry ANCHOR 153780 Royal Navy.
He was born 8th December 1870 at Portsmouth, Hampshire. Occupation prior to enlistment, labourer. He served from the 26 February 1890 for a period of twelve years, starting rank, stoker 2nd class on HMS Asia, promoted to stoker class 1 1 August 1891, leading stoker class 2 10 August 1898, leading stoker class 1 6 April 1901. His last ship was HMS Duke of Wellington, went to shore service time expired 28 February 1902.

7 November 1945 he was paid for Long Service and and good conduct. Rank Master at Arms P/MX64521 of HMS Assgai attached to HMS Kongoni



Commemorated on a family cross, along with his son Alfred Henry ANCHOR. Royal Navy, Lieutenant Commander 1912 – 1969

At rest with his father in St Stephen’s Churchyard, Fylingdales, Yorkshire
