Alfred BAKER. Lance Corporal 9667, 2/4th Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Born 1885 to Alfred and Fanny Meakin Baker, nee Straw. 1891 residing with his parents and siblings at 20 Gladstone Street, Ilkeston. 1901 with his widowed father and brother at 12 Albert Street, Ilkeston, occupation, bricklayer. 1911 boarder at the home of the Wilkes family at 3 Market Street, Basford, Derbyshire, occupation, bricklayer. Last known address was of his father who resided at 39, Granby Street, Ilkeston. Died from heat stroke in Bedford 26 July 1916 aged 31 years. His father was granted a war gratuity 17 November 1916.
