ATTERBURY Alfred. Private, 15439, 7th, South Staffordshire Regiment. He was wounded in Gallipoli and died of his wounds in Malta on 9th November 1915. Born in Birmingham

SCHOFIELD James. Private, 14424, 8th Duke of Wellingtons Regiment, West Riding. died in Malta on the 10th November 1915. Born at Greenfield, Lancs, lived at Linthwaite Yorkshire

DICK David M Lance Corporal , 6550, 1/4th, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was taken ill at the Dardanelles and died in Malta on the 10th November 1915. Mentioned in Despatches. He was the son of James Dick, of 47 Bank Street, Galashiels.
Some notes from what remains of his army record. He enlisted at Galashiels on the 10th June 1908 and served with the Lothian and Border Horse Yeomanry as private 872, later transferred to the 4th K.O.S.B as private 6550. His final engagement with the colours terminated on the 9th June 1913 with the rank of Lance Corporal. He re-joined on the outbreak of hostilities in 1914. and re-joined as Lance Corporal 6550 K.O.S.B. His previous occupation was a cabinet maker , and was an apprentice with J Goodier and Sons, 65, St Andrews Street, Galashiels. He was living with his parents, James and Margaret at, 47 Bank Street, Galashiels. On the 20th May 1915 he was posted to the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force as Lance Corporal. He was taken ill in the field ( the record that would have shown his movements in the field did not survive the Blitz over London WW2) and on the 23rd October 1915 he was admitted into St George's Hospital, Malta from Hospital Ship Karapara suffering from Pyrexia (Fever). On 29th October 1915 it was reported he was dangerously ill. The 9th November 1915 report as gradually getting worse and on the 10th November 1915 he died of Neuritis. (Please note. The SDGW on Ancestry have his place of death as the Dardanelles, cause, killed in action, and date 12th July 1915. The CWGC list his rank as Private).
