Albert William BOURKE. 2nd Lieutenant, 3rd Royal Irish Fusiliers, attached to the Royal Irish Rifles. Born 1 May 1892 at Newtownards Road Belfast, Ireland. Only son of Charles Edward and Sophia Bourke of Killala, Cyprus Avenue, Bloomfield later of Kensington House, Kensington Road, Knock, Belfast. Grandson of Colonel E A Bourke, R.A.M.C and grand-nephew to Surgeon General Joynt Bourke. On the 9 May 1915 aged 23 years he was in command of a bombing party and in the course of the attack on the German lines was shot through the head, death being instantaneous.
