Albert Edward BARRATT

BARRATT, Albert Edward. Private 49434, 3rd North Staffordshire Regiment died 10th June 1918. He was the son of Alfred and Elizabeth of 36, Warwick Street, Wolverhampton He is at rest in Wolverhampton Cemetery, Staffordshire. Some notes from what remains of his army record. He joined up on the 10th October and was mobilised on the 15th October 1917 and posted to the 3rd North Staffordshire Regiment. aged 16 years and 3 months. He lived at 2, Middle Cross Street, Wolverhampton with his mother, and was employed as a clipper. His father, late Sergeant was killed somewhere in France. On the 27th January 1918 he was admitted to 1st Northern General Hospital, Newcastle-on-Tyne with appendicitis. An appendicectomy was performed, tuberculous peritonitis developed, with complications, acute intestinal obstruction - caecostomy. Signed J.W. Heslop, Captain, R.A.M.C. (Territorial) He died at 8-15 am on the morning of the 10th June 1918.
