Born 1 August 1911 to Thomas and Eleanor Darvell.
He was captured when Singapore fell to the Japanese 15 February 1942
Died of cholera 7 June 1943 aged 31 years. at Songkura Japanese POW Camp for the construction of the Burma Railway.
He was originally laid to rest at Sonkurai No. 1 Cemetery Block C, Grave No 17 with Trooper Holcroft, they were cremated together, both dying of cholera. 1946 their ashes were moved to Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery Burma and were placed in graves next to each other B4.O.14 and 15.
