He was shot dead by the PIRA during an ambush and landmine attack on an Armoured Personnel Carrier at Belcoo, County Fermanagh on the 25th June 1978 aged 23. At rest in Inishmacsaint Parish Church Cemetery, Derrygonnelly, County Fermanagh.
