Alan Lambert VARNEY. Midshipman, Royal Navy, on HMS Heron. Born 27th January 1941 died 19th January 1960 aged 18. He was flying a Percival P.56 Provost T.1 serial number WV664. & 66 Naval Air Squadron, Home base HMS Heron RNAS Yeovilton, Somerset, detached to Number 1 Flying Training School. He was on a training sortie when the aircraft dived from cloud into the ground near Pocklington, Yorkshire, he may have become disoriented. In proud and loving memory remembered always by mother, father, Graham and Stuart.
At rest in All Saints churchyard, Newton on Ouse, Yorkshire. YO30 2BL.
