Extended Description
Sapper 24443903 Alan James Irvine. Royal Engineers. Waterbeach Barracks, Cambridgeshire, formerly RAF Waterbeach
Born 14 June 1958 to James Alfred and Winifred Irvine.
Killed 17 September 1977 aged 19 years in the district of Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
He is at rest with his parents in Roselawn Cemetery, Belfast Northern Ireland.

In 1976 I joined Securicor Security and over a period of time, I became friendly with Alan’s mother, Winnie, who was a colleague. During one conversation she mentioned that her son Alan wanted to join the Army and asked if he could he come a talk to me, knowing I had been in the Army. One day he came with Winnie to her work and Alan and I had good old natter about the army and his last words to me were that he was definitely going to join up, which he did. 1977 I saw Winnie and she told me that Alan and a mate of his were killed by a motor car whilst walking back to barracks. I was lost for words.

Rest in Peace, until we meet again at the great muster in the sky.
