Alan GREEN. Flight Lieutenant 57010, Royal Air Force stationed at RAF Linton-on-Ouse, Yorkshire. Born 28th June 1923 killed in a flying accident 22nd July 1954 aged 31. (Wills and Admin, Ancestry. Alan Green of 26 Squadron R.A.F. and 118 Longwood Road Barr Common near Walsall, Staffordshire died 22nd July 1954 on Kinder Scout, Hayfield, Derbyshire. Probate London 27th November 1954 to John Harrison, engineer. Small extract from a book called Dark Peak Aircraft Wrecks 1. He joined 66 Squadron, R.A.F. Linton on Ouse on the 19th July 1954. On the day of his death 22nd July 1954 he was flying a Sabre F4 XD730 in an annual air defence exercise, named Operation Dividend. (the name is changed every year) he entered thick cloud and crashed into Kinder Scout. (end of extract) Kinder Scout is a moorland plateau at Dark Peak in the Derbyshire Peak District. He died at the scene. At rest in All Saints churchyard, Newton on Ouse, Yorkshire. YO30 2BN.
