40MM Anti-Aircraft gun training.

This is one out of several thousand photos I picked up years ago at a sale. It is a typical United States Navy twin 40MM Bofors A.A. gun crew going through a pratice drill,I know this because my father- in- law was on one of these mounts and said if they were under attack there woundn't have been a nice steady picture or in that case no picture at all. These guns were employed on almost every U.S. ship from BattleShips down to P.T. Boats. They were mostly for antiaircraft protection, but as neccessity called ,they were pushed in other combat roles.
Certainly looks like drill rounds, with holes in the cartridge case and no primers fitted.
