i gave this 5 because 1) its a good picture 2) it's a sad end to a good piece of equipment, i started my army service working on the Abbot

Same opinion as Mr Pilot. Worked on Abbotts for 5 years. Undignified end for the old girl

I thought that this picture would stir some emotions, and I must confess I expected it to be Gunners or ex as the case may be. I too found it a sorry site as 27 field used to have Abbotts and they kind of grow on ya dont they.

We had them in 47, bloody cold in the winter and all the M109 boys used to laugh at us cos they had discos and heaters in the back of theirs! but all the same there is something very reassuringly familiar about an Abbott.

I agree, although it was avery pleasant shock when we eventually moved onto the M109

i only worked on the 109 once at larkhill and it was amazing the amount of room in it. as tosh says m109 compleat with disco, heaters, bar and it's own hellecopter landing pad to take you home at the end of the night.

Bunnies are weird? What could be weirder than living in a hole in the ground for ever and crapping in plastic bags, dressing up with twigs and leaves AND enjoying it!
