1.23.02 Daisy Amelia PETTIFER. Daughter of Sergeant Thomas Henry (2nd Gloucestershire Regiment) and Elizabeth Pettifer, nee Rodd died 3rd July 1911 aged 5 months
1911 Census, Malta - Daisy aged 5 months born in Horfield Briston was with her parents and sister Violet Elizabeth born at Horfield 1909, in Army Married Quarters in Malta.
4 August 1915, her father, Thomas Henry Pettifer, whilst serving as Company Quartermaster Sergeant 7621 with 7th South Gloucestershire Regiment was killed in action at Gallipoli aged 31. Husband of Elizabeth Pettifer (later Clemison) of 3 Council Villas, Kirton-in-Lindsay, Lincolnshire. His widow, Elizabeth was granted a war gratuity 23 October 1915 revised 30 September 1919. He is commemorated on the Bourton on the Water War Memorial, Gloucestershire.
1.23.02 James William TOVELL. Son of Leah Magdalen, nee Van Vyk and Staff Sergeant 13709 Charles William Tovell, Royal Army Service Corps. Born 26 June 1910 at Aldershot, Hampshire, died in Malta 16 June 1911.
His father’s army records show that there was another child born and died in Malta. Wilfred William born 16 November 1912 died 17 June 1913. No burial location could be found for this child. It is only an assumption that he may be buried with his brother James.

His father Charles William Tovell was born in 1875 at Tunstall, Norfolk, to James and Emma Tovell nee Mitchell. He joined the Army Service Corps aged 22 years on the 3 January 1898 at Great Yarmouth, occupation, baker. Previously served with the 2nd Volunteer Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. He married on the 8 April 1908 at Farnham Registry Office Surrey. He served overseas. South Africa (Boer War) 16 September 1899 to 16 June 1904. Malta 24 February 1911 to 12 September 1913 and with the British Expeditionary Force in France 12 August 1914 to 29 December 1916. All other times stationed in U.K. He extended his service three times to complete 21 years with the colours. He came up through the ranks to the 19 July 1914 when he was promoted to Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant. 16 July 1920 he was discharged on termination of his 2nd period of engagement with F Supply Coy, Royal Army Service Corps to his wife and family at 17 Westdale Road, Plumstead, Woolwich, London.
1.23.02 Norris Charles WELLS. Son of Corporal W.R. Wells, Army Service Corps, died 1st February 1911
All at rest in and unmarked burial in Pieta Military Cemetery, Plot 1 Row 23 Grave 2.
