"During the exercises Kobra-17 Georgian soldiers passed the test. This does not mean, however, that we end our joint training. We will continue to practice in Poland and in Georgia, supporting the development of Georgian Special Forces, so that we can jointly prepare a Task Force to take part in the NATO mission" said Brigadier General Wojciech Marchwica.

I would like nothing more but to hear that our two country's SF continue joint training exercises and it becoming a tradition.
I would also like to use this opportunity and say that I am very proud of the fact that Poland kept & is still keeping it's word in every way on truly exemplary level ( which is a VERY rare feat nowadays ) particularily in regards to the military agreements signed in 2014 foremost and especialy concerning assisstance, cooperation and NATO integration of our special forces. It was mostly due to their ( Polish SOF ) involvment and schooling in NATO doctrines, inter-operability and tactics that our special forces gained certifications on top of Alliance wide reputation and are essentialy becoming part of NATO SOF, while Georgia is not even an Alliance member yet (!). This is something we haven't achieved until just recently and it is mainly due to Poland's efforts, really investing all it's heart and energy into this rather than making half hearted promises and not taking it very seriously like others do - unfortunatly.
I've been extremely glad since the first time this was announced back in 2014 and then solidified in 2016. There ofc has not been one dissapointment. Just Bravo. Like truly real brothers.

Note that this is the first time the Georgian conventional components of the ground forces aka Infantry are being officialy trained and prepared (proper training starts in 2018 ) for warfare against opposing military forces, by the United States.

So far, since 2001 the Georgian ground forces, with the exception of special operations forces, received exclusively preparation for anti insurgency and peacekeeping operations.

The next three years will see 9 Infantry Battalions undergoe extensive training and manouvers with US Marines to also establish a high-grade deterrent against enemy militaries.

Sadly not. Hostage rescue operations in similar fashion and retrieval of criminals that fled into separatist controled areas happened several times in the past 14 years. Most of them went quick and bloodless, only one was somewhat spectacular though. It happened in 2005 when a bomb was set off in the town Gori. The perpetrators were about to be extracted by their handlers after crossing the border to one of the separatist regions. Intelligence services found out about it and a small team was sent to apprehend them. They were hiding in an ambulance with a crew of actual doctors, but in specialy designed coffins and were allowed to pass the Russian checkpoints because a fake emergency and assistance call was arranged. They returned with both the bomber ( who was a Georgian ) and his handlers. Wasn't military though, was done by state security IIRC.
