Any MP.Net refugee who wishes to join us will be welcomed
At this point in time we run at a much slower pace than MP.Net did in its final hours but with your help we can work towards emulating what MP.Net formerly had.

I know transition from what you were used to is difficult but we feel that the environment here is not too dissimilar to what you had before.

Yes rules still apply here as they do on many websites

If things pick up here we will be looking for quality Mods to assist in the running of things.

Although we are a privately run site and are restricted in terms of funding we do have some plans for the future perhaps in the next year or two. We also welcome ideas from users and if it is possible we try to facilitate them.

We are dedicated to the success and wellbeing of MI.Net and will do all in our power to protect it and its members.

Some of the proposals for improvement

changing from VBulletin forums to xenforo (DONE 09/11/2015)
Upgrade server (DONE 09/11/2015)

We fully understand that the success of any forum/site like ours depends solely on user contribution and with that in mind we engage with our members prior to making any changes and take into account their thoughts before doing so.

We believe in being fair and understanding other points of view so if you have ever experienced a ban for disagreeing that will not be the case here, the mods are also moderated ;)

So If you are of a mind to give us a try we look forward to seeing you and discussing your military point of view.

Bombardier OUT!

MP.Net has been closed for posting for a few weeks, looks like it has finally died because it will not load.
Anyways it was good while it lasted

Yes I noticed that early this morning.
Well there wasn't any point keeping online if nobody could post to it.

I keep checking over... just cant get my head around what the attraction is?
The site is literally "a mess" and compared to here very limited. IMHO

Well first of all thank you, but you have to remember that people like different things and what floats there boat might not yours.

It seems to suit those that use it

Military Photos .Net is dead and buried, the mess?, well it is something completely different than that Mp.Net was before.
For me it is not a military website Per se but more a "Post what the hell you want" because we have no 'real calling' website.

I agree with JS not for me but some clearly like it.

Lame? No real calling? I understand that many of you guys who grew up so to speak with MP.net, miss it. And that´s okay. The first step is to admit it ;) There will never be another site like that again. (To admit that is the second step.) Hell, my entire college work stems from random alarms and excursions on MP.net´s forums. I´ve already admitted that I never was a member and I did regret it. But life goes on, and I learned to like Mess, even though I don´t feel completely at home there… there´s a mass of people, loads of topics, and I´ve got just this one life which catches up with me from time to time.

Time. Yes. You need to give it time. The community survived the burial of MP.net, yes? That´s what matters. If there´s is a community, there´s a purpose. And lame? Do you even know what´s lame? My doctor is. She thinks she has me on the right doses of Seroquil and Abilify

I dont believe the word 'Lame' is appropriate, if you do not like the website then that's fine (we all have differing tastes) but 'Lame' wrong word (sounds derogatory and I disagree with you anyway. People visit, join and post there, it is useful and liked by them.
Your opinion is valued but you must consider how you put it across.

I have read lots of posts around the web about Militaryphotos.net and how they wish it was still around, still don't understand why they don't come here? everybody to their own I suppose ;)

There were some touchy people there... in a discussion of Balkan strife, I posted a pic of an old Chetnik holding a Thompson SMG & made a mild comment about how he might have gotten it. The topic eventually degenerated into a real pi$$ing match between some Serbs and a few Croats!

But it was a good place to see unusual photos and discussions of obscure topics like the uber secret Russian sub, "Losharik". (last time I googled it, I got a pic of a Mitsubishi diesel boat)

I'll post my pic of the old Chetnik here someday... in an appropriate discussion. SW

Yes mate I noticed a bit of the aggression too but on the whole and as you say it was a good place for unusual photos. Look forward to seeing the Chetnik too.

I think I know what you mean @Firefox , MI.Net is a similar enviroment to the Old Mp . Net, but as you say "Everybody to their own" We have a few members who enjoy what both sites have to offer, I think that's a good thing.

Oh yes don't misunderstand me I wasn't criticising MP.Net merely pointing out that this would be a good replacement for that site, if people prefer the 'The Mess' then so be it.

I was a member of mp.net for 8 years. I may have been the top photo poster. Mostly I posted in the daily photos, Chinese military threads and the US Navy photo thread. I did not partake in much discussion over there. Just a little now and then.. I posted thousands upon thousands of photos at mp.net. They were really hot and heavy in viewers and members for years. I have photos posted over there with over 30,000 hits. No foolin.

when they folded up May 1st 2015 I joined the mess but seldom post because of their no photo policy...only personal pix can be posted. So I concentrated on skyscrapercity, sinodefenceforum & the after action review board (TAARB) which was made of of a lot of mp.net members that got bounced... Yesterday the administrator of TAARB posted that he was folding up that forum in a week.

Yes I'm bd popeye..and I post pictures.

I was a lurker in the old mp.net days and joined "the mess" but found it pretty restrictive and for me, pretty uptight. I have enjoyed finding this forum and intend posting wherever I think I have something to contribute. BDPopeye is a valued member of TheAfterActionReviewBoard and it is still going along. I stumbled into becoming the new admin over at TAARB but have no intention of using this forum to poach.

I hope this forum gains velocity and eventually completely takes over from the old mp.net.

Good luck to all :)

Bravo Zulu to Bravo Zulu! I'm still around just taking a break.. I'll be back to TAARB..perhaps today!

Thank you BZ we hope that we gain more presence on the web too, I intend to invest more into making that happen within the next 12 months. Your contributions will be very welcome, as we say in our welcome message to new signups
It is fair to say that any online community is built on the contributions of its members and that certainly applies here, we welcome your input whether that be uploaded photos or messages it does not matter your content will be welcome.
