The first step in becoming a soldier

Editor's note: The first thing a soldier has to learn is how to stand like a soldier. When a new recruit is first assigned to a battalion, he has to learn the posture of a soldier because that posture is the mother of all other military actions. This posture isn’t always easy for everyone to learn. Soldiers’ caps, sticks, tacks, bricks and mirrors can all be used to help soldiers correct the positions of their bodies, waists and heads. After a soldier has gone through all the hard work of learning to stand like a soldier, he will be able to demonstrate a soldier's strength and masculinity in every move he makes and will more deeply understand the heavy responsibilities of a soldier.
