You will never be forgotten

"The Wall"

”A slab of black granite that I was afraid of:
Afraid because of the many names that I know inscribed
Sometimes I wish mine was there so I could be with my brothers
Survivors guilt I'm told
I'll be with them someday and we will go on patrol once more
Until then, I touch the cold stone and your names
While you touch my soul”

Bill “Frisbee” Farnie

Remembrance

Remember your fallen comrades without with regret Bill, they died doing what they wanted to be doing, fighting alongside their mates. There is no answer here or any place else why death took them, and we remain. Our survival should not be cause for guilt, is that what they would have wanted?

NO, they would not want you to grieve to long or too much, rather I believe that they would rather you raise a glass, salute the Memorial to their service or pay respects in whatever way suits you best. And then get on with a life that in it's fullness pays them back for their sacrifice.

They are forever young, and will not know the slow encroaching aging of mind and body, not have to bury another friend every passing year.

Remember this, you and I and all those who have earned the right to wear The Red Beret, past present or future, no matter where we are, are linked by bonds stronger than anything this earth could manufacture. You are in the hearts of those who have gone before you Bill, there's a special place for you among them.

Be their witness in life mate.

Currahee
Untrique Paratus.
