RN:
Daring class destroyer HMS Diana (D126) steamed through the nuclear fallout created by UK atomic tests off the Monte Bello islands duiring Operation Mosaic1 & 2 on 16 May and 19 June 1956. The Chiefs of Staff wanted to know how the ship and men would fair. Around two-thirds of the crew have died, and survivors attest that a variety of fallout-related diseases are responsible. No compensation or acknowledgment from the UK MoD has ever occurred.
