I've a Russian friend in Belgium whose father flew cargo aircraft in Afghanistan. He didn't say much about this pic other than "you wanted to come in on final like a dive bomber."

I believe him. It was much the same way at Dong Ha, RVN.

My friend also showed me pics from her family album which contained some showing Cossack Cavalry. A very interesting family! SW

In the second vid, that's some horrible stress on the nose wheel!!! But it reinforces what he said about Ilyushins being tough aircraft.

First tour, when I left Dong Ha going to Da Nang for the R&R flight, our C130 took a few rounds of 12.7 in the rudder.

I thought the crew chief looked a little concerned but didn't ask why. Sometimes you're better off not knowing. SW
