Seems that MilitaryPhotos is shutting down.
They had a good member database and lots of activity over there, feel for the admin of that site.

Its understandable that people do not know the effort it takes to run a website but I can say from experience that the admin 'Hood' will have worked very hard so my condolences mate.

A lot of the members over there are asking where they can go for Military Photos so I guess it would be ok to tell them about us. If anybody has an active account I would appreciate a plug.

I have offered the admin my condolences and have offered any help with their new site 'The Mess' (they seem to be having some teething issues).

Its fair to say that MI.Net has lived for the last 12 years in the shadow of MP.Net and I understand why, as I said they had a lot of members with high levels of knowledge and interaction with that site.

So if you can give us a small but unobtrusive plug that would be great

Update over the last few years many old members of Militaryphotos.net have joined us including some mods. thats great news for us but I am sure there are many more we could recruit to our ranks.

the big difference and the greatest asset of MP.net was the "this weeks photos" thread. It was a nice way to get news from all around the world with pictures. It will be great if miliitaryimages would continue the legacy but i did't see a thread like that so far here. Maybe it would be a good idea

That is a good idea
at work at the moment so will get it sorted later today
welcome to mi. net

I have created a category in the forums for 'This Weeks Photos' basically I have just edited a previous category.
I assume this thread over on MP.Net was created by the users on a weekly basis?

Lets see how we get on any advice on how it worked over there would be appreciated.

Seems like a good idea I will watch this thread, seems like something I could get in to

second week running for 'this weeks Photos'
Started the second week with some Venezuelan Military pics, thought it would be cool to see something a little different.

Well I have been watching the progress of the new website (The Mess) and have to say that yes, it has transferred a lot of members over to the new site from MP.net but falls far short of what I would have liked it to be. They seem to be overly protective regarding the posting of images and that in itself is letting it down.

All kudos to the admins and mods for the efforts they have put into achieving the switch but given that they rode in on the wake of a very popular website they have not taken full affect of that advantage.

I wish them well and will keep a close eye on their progress.

I used to visit Mp regularly and was unhappy about its demise, this website is as close to mp as any ody could possibly get and with the help of members could become as popular and useful as mp was before.

Having read your posts @Bombardier it is obvious to me that you put a lot of effort into this site and care about the members too. ThAnk you for that and I hope that MI becomes all you hoped it would be.

I will be around for the foreseeable and where I can i will help out

Keep up the good work admins

Thank you for your kind words @Cobra you are right we do work hard to make this site a worthwhile place to be and will continue to do so in the hope that people will join us and contribute, this will make our little venture more worthwhile for all.

Hopefully I have added a nice archive to keep people everywhere busy and also to help the site. I have more to come . Only sorry I have been neglectful.

You have mate and thank you very much
