The f6 Lighting first flew in April 1964 it was brought in to service the following year.It served with the RAF around the world as an interceptor. Helped by is constantly improving climb rateOf more than (50,000ft) 15,240m per minute and a speed of mach 2 plus. The F6 was the last in the line of Lightings and was retired from service in 1976

Yes the F.3, featuring two 16,360-pound thrust Avon engines, a larger square-tip fin, Red-Top missiles, and the capability of carrying two large overwing fuel pods, entered service in 1964

I used to watch these beauties fly from an RAF base in the Middle East in the very early 70's. A great sight!
