HILL, William Grant. Sergeant, Pupil Pilot R/139366 Royal Canadian Air Force killed as the result on an accident to the Wellington in which he was flying on the 7th August 1943 aged 25 (Some notes from his Service Record) He had multiple injuries and burns. He died at the scene and was then transported to the mortuary at Wellesbourne, Warwickshire, the other four crew members also died at the scene. He was born on the 9th February 1918 to Francis Henry and Catherine nee Baker of 324 Portage Road, Stamford Centre, Ontario and he was the husband of Leila Mabel of 681, 3rd Avenue, Nigara Falls, Ontario. He had two brothers serving their country. Lance Corporal B/8635Z R.C.A.S.C and Stoker Petty Officer Edward Joseph, H.M.C.S. of F.M.O. Halifax. He was interred on the 12th August 1943 with full service honours and the Last Post was sounded at the end of the ceremony He is at rest in Stratford on Avon Cemetery, Warwickshire.
