GREEN George Charles

Gunner 92942 George Charles GREEN, 8th Fire Command, Royal Garrison Artillery, who fell asleep October 20th 1918 aged 29. He was the son of George and Fredericka of 14, High Street, Congleton and husband of Helena nee Buckley of Dean's Gate Farm, Astbury, Cheshire

He attested to the Army Reserve 30th November 1915. Mobilize and Posted 30th May 1916 and joined the next day 31st to No2 Depot of the R.G.A. On the 17th June 1916, O.D. Portsmouth posted. He gave his address as Claud View, High Town, Congleton, Cheshire, occupation Butcher and age as 26yrs and 3 months. He gave his wife Helena as his next of kin of Claud View whom he married at Astbury Church, Cheshire on the 15th September 1913 and she was residing at Moss Farm, Astbury. They had on child and daughter who was born in Congleton on the 1st April 1914. He died of Pneumonia at Milton Section, 5th Southern Hospital, Portsmouth
