F111 John BURROWS. Able Seaman D/JX255365 Royal Navy on HMS Wheatland. Born 8 May 1920 at Burnley Lancashire to Richard and Margaret Burrows, nee Fallows of Burnley. Husband of Mary Burrows, nee Ballinger of Burnley, Lancashire. Died near Royal Naval Hospital, Bighi, Malta, 18th January 1944 aged 23 years of a fractured skull from an accidental fall. He was not on duty. Wills and Admin, Ancestry - His residence was 26 Rochester Street, Burnley. His effects went to his widow.



F111 William Hamilton FREEMAN. Blacksmith 4th Class, D/SMX268 Royal Navy HMS Leonian. Born 16 February 1921 in County Tyrone Ireland William and Mary Freeman, nee Hamilton. Husband of Iris Elvina Freeman, nee Painter of Devonport. Died on board his ship by his own hand 7th February 1944 aged 23 years, gunshot wound to his head whilst the balance of his mind was disturbed, suicide. His wife passed away in 1994 at Plymouth, Devon.

Please note two family trees on Ancestry show his father as Hugh Moore Freeman and not William.



F111 Henry WIlliam SHAW. Able Seaman P/JX329038 Royal Navy on HMS Faulkner. Born 19 April 1922 to Samuel H. and Clara Shaw, of Hinckley, Leicestershire. Died at 45 General Hospital, St Patricks Barracks, Pembroke Garrison, Malta 24th January 1944 aged 21 years of Empyema to left side of chest. (Lung abscess) Cerebral abscess and meningitis.
