Sven Hassel Fans?

Any fans of Sven Hassel's East Front fiction? Sven is more or less a fiction writer, but he claims to have been on the front in a penal unit.

Regardless of his own story, his fiction is somewhat amusing and a good fun read if you don't need a great brain challenge. When I first discovered Sven I also discovered this webiste http://www.svenhassel.info/

I think I've read all of them at some stage. Apart from his serving on every front in WW2 (often at the same time) they're good fun and have good characters!

Have researched Hassel a little and it's very confusing. There are two trains of thought,
1 He is genuine
2 He is a fantasist whose wife wrote the books who also is a porn model or something along those lines?!?!
"Wheels of Terror" is univerally accepted to be closest to the truth and the other books pure fiction.

I've read couple of his books, don't know about how much truth there is but there's good humour in them, just worth of reading for that.

Read quite a few during my stay in Germany. I found them to be a good read.

I remember reading them as paperbacks in the early 1980's!
(While still a studious scholar!)

I did enjoy them then - think I will attempt to a re-read sometime soon and see if my perspective has changed...
