Im no proffessional photographer, I use a Sony cyber shot digi camera to take all my snaps of Military stuff, it seems to work fine and has 3.2 megapixels.
I would like to start taking more proffessional pics so if anybody has a suggestion for a camera that would be best for me to start with I would be very grateful.

Hi
As with conventional (i.e. film) photography, the best results are from an SLR camera, i.e. one which gives you the greatest degree of control. The disadvantage for digital photography is that prices haven't yet come down to the level of consumrer affordability.
The base level at present is the Canon EOS-300D which retails at just sub-£1000 as a package with lens. This is a superb unit with around 6.5 megapixels and a very high degree of control - it is capable of superb pictures.
I am a profesional and currently use the EOS D-30 which is from an earlier generation, I have no problem in producing pin-sharp A3-sized pix with this, at only 3.5Mp, so that gives you an indication of what the 300D can do!

Thought you might. I bought my EOS D-30 in March 01 - I haven't useda roll of film since, I've even done weddings with it!

Droney, That is one laid-back cat! lolb; lolb; lolb; However, I think I see your problem. From the looks of the pics, I'd say you took those pics close up of Sammy, say, about 3 feet or less. Am I right?

All right. Cut back on the zoom and take the pic from about 10 feet.

Doesn't have to be the cat. Anything else you may have been having trouble with the lighting with will work. One word, though. If it's larger than the cat, say a wall or whatever, step back a little further. maybe 15 feet.

it seem a little better with distance, and if i turn the exposure to its lowest setting, ill just have to experiment with it. ;)

You have an exposure setting on your camera?

Yes with a range of +- 3

That's your problem, then. Since you don't waste film with a digital camera, I'd spend some time experimenting with various settings and ranges. My camera has automatic settings so I don't have to worry about whiteout or blackout.

Since you don't waste film with a digital camera,
good job then :D thanks for the help, ill keep on trying to find a happy medium.
I'am about to get my hands on the new Nikon D2X in March, this baby as 12 Meg pix. Also if you drop the image pix size to 6 million (this still will give you a great enlargement of your image), it doubles the focal length of your lens. That is, if you are using a 200mm lens it makes it 400mm. So you only have to carry one long lens around. Great for airshows and other military events.
Now comes the bomb shell ----- They cost about £3,000 (without the lens) Luckly I work for the military and they are getting approx 20 to be issued to the Photographic Sections throughout the Air Force.
Now comes the bomb shell ----- They cost about £3,000
If I have 3000£ I will buy BRDM 2
This camera is very expensive.
I use Sony Cybershoot P52 with 3.2 m/pix , but now my dream is Canon PowerShot S1 IS.
The one I use at home cost me about £120 and is only 4 mill pix. Due to the type of work that miltary photographers undertake, they have to have a system that is going to work from the ice of Norway to the sands of Basra and the Nikon is the best.
Anyway where can you buy a BMP 2 for £3,000 and please don't say Russia.....
Not BMP 2 but BRDM-2. You can buy it in Poland.
Sorry, reading is not one of my strong points after just finishing a bottle of good wine...
