An intelligent, articulate man, Harry tells his life story, from his childhood in rural Edwardian England, through service in both World Wars, as a soldier in WWI when he was wounded in 1917 and as a member of the AFS in WWII, fighting fires caused by bombing in his beloved Somerset. The book also covers his personal and professional life up to the present.
A thoroughly enjoyable read, a wonderful book about a remarkable man. Recommended.
