Hi lads thought you might enjoy these. The Veteran holding the coffee is Fred Moore who was one of the original 500 volunteers, fought in Nth Africa and was injured and taken prisoner at Arnhem ! He is still in fine fettle and is bright and cheerful - I hope I'm in such good nick at his age.

Looks like a grand remembrance parade and ceremony. It's great that these men are shown such respect and honor and this battle is still celebrated fervently by all.

If I remember correct, this operation at Arnhem and crossing the Rhine didn't go too well for the allies. Was Fred Moore one of the many with the British 1st Airborne Division captured by the Germans. At least his time as a POW would be short as the war in Europe would be over within a year.

Thank you Mike. A very informative site that tells it like it was. A bloody mess indeed for those brave men of the First Airborne Division. Two Panzer Divisions were waiting, they should have listened to the Dutch resistance intel.
