Hello,
I am new to this forum so please accept my appplogies if I have posted this request in the wrong area of the site.
I am part of a group called the RAF Blakelaw Preservation Goup (T/A Bunker 13) . Our aim is to restore the WWII 13 Group Comand bunker near Newcastle(believed to be biult to the same blue print as 11 group bunker at Uxbridge) to represent its WWII layout.
The bunker is in superb condition having been left unused in a government compound for many years.
Is there anyone out there with any contacts with anyone who may have worked in the bunker or been associated with the bunker, we desperately need photos and info to help us with this imense task.
We are trying to open the bunker to the public and schools as an educational tool to further inform youngsters understanding of WWII as part of the national curiculum, to help them understand the sacrifice of our older generation for the freedom they now enjoy. We want the bunker to act as a focal point for the RAF in the N.E. Any info PHOTO,s etc of any of the WWII Airfields covered by 13 Group would also be greatly welcomed.
Shortly we will be launching membership to the group for people to receive updates of the bunker restoration and also requesting volunteers to offer andy help possible.
Cheers Mike
