my old man was a legend in his time..... ex gunner para.... when he was the "Q" and on exercise in good old germany, the cook informed him that they had ran out of water,so he knew that by the time they sent out for some it would arrive too late for lunch....so he informed the cook to use the water that the "tatties" were boiling in for the tea........the cook wasnt happy about this at all,but did as he was told, come dinner time the lads returned from the ranges all wet and hungry, then it started...." what the f*** is this, the tea is bloody green" they were all shouting......so my old man storms in to the tent, and shouts "is this what i get for doing you a bloody good turn,i went out and bought the finest china tea that money can buy to give you all a treat and this is how you repay me,well this will be the last i ever do this" and storms back out........ the lads fell silent, then started to taste the tea saying" hey its not bad"....... the cook went to my old man and told him he couldent belive they bought it.... my old mans comments " neither do i "........ now thats a sign of a good "Q"

just another wee story about him..... the b.c. used to ride an old bike into camp, this thing was falling apart and he used to park it out side his office...anyway one morning he rode it into camp but becouse the c.o. was visiting him that day he asked my old man to put it into the stores, this he did...... later on that day the b.c. went to the stores to collect his bike, the store man made him sign for it,saying to the b.c. that without a signature he wouldent be able to get his bike out.... when my old man found this out he put the bike on bty strength, and made the b.c. sign for it everyday..... it even went for servicing/inspection......
