You've got the Webmaster feeling guilty. He can't do it all himself, be a devil, get involved. It's easy after the first time, ask any girl!!!!

O.K., We are talking about H.M.S. Rodney, and H.M.S.Nelson, how and why were they 1/2 ships?

Between the 2 WW's, various arms limitation treaties were agreed between the major powers, who promptly ignored them, except England.
One of these agreements was to limit the length and tonnage of capital warships, and England was already building 2 battleships which were in breach of this treaty, so the designs were changed, and the aft end omitted from these two ships.
If you look at full length photos or drawings of Rodney and Nelson, they look like the forerunners of todays supertankers, the superstructure is all at the stern, because they literally are only just over half the original designed length.
Collectively they were nicknamed 'The Cherry Trees', because the treaty that 'chopped them down' was signed in Washington.
