BANANA SKINS
I’ve just read an article about Banana skins so I’ve condensed the report for people to understand. This is not a joke.
Silky
We often throw away valuable things unknowingly; considering them to be a waste. One such is Banana Skin.
Banana peel has been used in India for many centuries, as a traditional natural medicine.
Because Bananas were not available all the year round, in olden days the peels would be dried in the sun and then roasted on the embers of a wooden fire made from wood of the Arjun tree. The ash thus obtained used to be stored in air-tight containers.
Chronic Asthmatics used to take a big pinch of this ash the first thing in the morning, for a whole year. It was observed that they remained free from asthmatic attacks or had very few attacks of asthma thereafter for the next few years!
Nowadays these days we get bananas the whole year. You can also boil fresh banana peel in half pint of water to five minutes and drink the water every morning getting the same effect.
Recent research has shown that Banana peel (not the fleshy fruit, mind you!) contains large quantities of Serotonin, an enzyme which is naturally present in the Brain and this enzyme helps to elevate one's mood. Clinical trials have taken place in various parts of India, which have conclusively shown that drinking this water (fresh, not stored) definitely helps to elevate one's mood and is now use in treating mild to moderate Depression.
Of the two varieties of Bananas that were tested, it was found that the Bananas with a thick yellow skin were of greater benefit.
So the next time you catch yourself throwing away the peel after eating a Banana, please don't.....!
