A very moving tribute (Y)
A very poignant reminder of what war is all about.
So many faceless headstones, each representing the innocence of youth.
When will we ever learn to get along ?
Any war may seem justified at the time, but with hindsight and introspection, is any war worth the death of so many ?
The gift of life is often taken for granted and ultimately death is the result of mankinds folly. Even with all the many deaths, both civilian and military from WW I, was not WW I directly responsible for World War II ?
On this November 11th, whatever you call this day, Remembrance Day or Armistice Day or Veterans Day, say a little pray for those brave men and women who have died in war, fighting for their nations honor, no matter how misplaced this honor may sometimes be. Those who have been there, know that personal honor and glory can not be compromised and it is this personal sacrifice by the average and soon to be forgotten warrior that long outlives the war which took their life. This is only the opinion of myself, a man getting older by the minute but a man that seems forever lost in the past. When I was 19 I felt like an old man and now that I am 58, I seem to always remember and think as when I was 19. When will I become one with my body and my mind ?
This tribute did bring a tear to my eye. I suspect it's an indication of old age.
