Does anyone know where to buy M83 para helmets?, I know they are copies of the Israeli ones but are also identical to the British Para helmets but with a 'US type' liner which would be cooler in hot weather.

They are sometimes avaliable here but are too expensive

Im not in a desparate bad rush for one, but i thought it would be useful if i do end up joining the army. Of course you use what youre issued and given but just that this piece of kit is nearly identical but i heard it is lighter in weight and gives decent protection alongside being cooler on your head during hot climates.

A few points:

1. The helmet in the top picture is not the South African jump lid.
2. The SADF Para helmet is heavier than the old issue Brit lid, but the same weight as the 'new' kevlar.
3. In the British Army your protective eqpt will be checked and even though the African lid has the same ballistic qualities as the 'new' Brit para kevlar, you will not be permitted to wear it.
4. Work on your fitness and pass P-Coy before buying gucci kit.

When do you start Phase 1 ?
