When a British soldier is killed in Iraq or Afghanistan, he is publicly named so
that proper tributes can be made.

But no one knows about the horrors of the wounded. They are not identified.

No official figures are released - indeed, we have no idea how many there are.

The closest estimate is that, in the past six years, there have been 5,500
emergency medical evacuations from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

 This kind of stuff makes me angry, I believe it is happening here as well. At least the lack of public knowledge. Our troops are getting treatment and being retained in the military when possible. I do worry about the mental health side as I don't see much improvement in how it's handled in the last 5 years. Our troops still are fighting the sigma attached to these problems which at times can have far reaching impact on the soldiers and their families. I consider myself so lucky to have a wife and family that understood, more than I can say for some (NOT ALL) of my fellow soldiers.

Prosit! Bob

Good post Droney and very true.
It is important for society to know the full story about the scarifices our troops are making for us and our injured troops should recieve our thanks.

Im not sure if they should be identified but the figures should be made available.

There are people out there who would deny that our troops are serving us the public but they are the liberal softies who would rather Hug a tree or provide criminals with more rights than our brave troops.

Excellent post. It is good that we continue to remind people of the sacrifice of our military forces and it is imperative that we reach as many people as possible with the disgraceful lack of care provided by our respective governments to these honorable men and women. Keep on posting and spreading the word and maybe if enough attention is brought to bear on this critical subject, the rank and file citizens will vote these professional hypocritical politicians out of office.
