Gurkha VC rushed to hospital
By Guardian Reporter
A Nepalese war hero from Hounslow is in hospital fighting for his life after suffering severe dehydration.
Ex-Gurkha Tul Bahadar Pun, 84, was last night rushed to hospital after being found collapsed at his Hounslow home.
Pun's friend and former Special Forces sergeant Mel Glover rushed the war hero to hospital, where doctors said he was just hours away from being beyond help.
The Gurkha was awarded Britain's highest military honour, the Victoria Cross, for fighting during the Burma campaign during the Second World War.
Despite his war record, Pun was refused a British visa until a public campaign helped overturn the Government decision.
He moved with his wife and son from their Nepal village to Hounslow, where he has received medical support.
