Look at these images, of 'Solders' Accommodation, and tell me if i'm wrong,
but when i was serving, if the place looked like a pig sty, it was your fault,
and you cleaned it up. OK some barracks are poor, but have people of to day
forgoten how to use a cleaning rag and a paintbrush:mad:

Agreed mate but I think some of the pics show accom in a state of beyond repair
I have to concur with the Bomber, However, the messy Barracks falls right at the soldiers feet, if my barracks room (regular duty not in training) looked like that I would have been charged. sal;

To me the problem is discipline; the British soldiers of today are not allowed to be shouted at or spoken to in a harsh manner as it is classed as bullying. One of my neighbours who is in the RAF informed me that he had been called into the Base Commander’s office and told to stop charging a chap for not doing his duty as there had been a formal complaint of harassment.

Here is something else I've just remembered. Soldiers accommodation comes onder the War Office. Married Quarters come under a different government department.
