O.K. People, you got me on the last one. Try this!!!
The following clues are about a WW2 event which made headlines 50 years later.
1) Waste paper.
2) A hurried gift from the Orient.
3) A tattoo.
Thinking caps on, but it's not too difficult really.

O.K. try now:
1) What is another word for waste paper?
2) If you are hurrying, what are you doing, then think of 3 Kings.
3) This has nothing to do with needles or skin.
Best of luck,
Derrick.

Here we go:
1) Salvage
2) Russian (rushing) and gold (frankincense and myrrh).
3) Edinburgh (tattoo).
Any easier?

Gold from HMS Edinburgh lost on one of the Murmansk convoys.

Hi Highland Sniper,
You are correct. Special permission had to be obtained from the Russian Government because their Gold reserves were involved, but more important, the British Government had to give special permission to salvage the gold because Edinburgh is a designated war grave.

Yeah good Bud,
I'm not particularly au fait with Military matters except general knowledge and W.W. 2 and the Navy, ( I missed National Service by 2 months), but I love the cameraderie on this site, and I'll join in and do everything I can to get others to do the same.
Derrick.
