An Army regiment with historic links to the county of Cheshire is in its last
day of existence.

On Saturday, the 22nd Cheshire Regiment is merging with the Worcestershire
and Sherwood Foresters and the Staffords, to form the Mercian regiment.

The Prince of Wales will salute the three regiments as they take part in a re-
badging ceremony in Tamworth.

The new regiment will be known as 1st Battalion (Cheshires) and retain a
headquarters at Chester Castle.
