Help with image

[Matzos]

I after some help in locating this town, the image was taken in 1944,

I was told it could be Belgrade, but after looking on Google Maps, I'm not sure. All I know is that it is in that rough location.

The location looks really familiar for some reason. bou; I'm sure the building (fort) in the middle is quite well known. It looks to be on a hilltop overlooking the area? Fantastic defensive position with the river meandering around it.

Keeping in mind that meandering rivers will change over time, the river may have somewhat changed its location from the location when the photo was taken in 1944. After all, it's 63 years ago!
